Violin and bow by Andrew Hyde 1899
Andrew Hyde was a prolific violin maker at the turn of the 20th century who made nearly 2000 violins in his lifetime in addition to assisting the famous Thomas Edison with some of his projects. This violin is accompanied by a bow also by Mr. Hyde, silver mounted and of commensurate quality to the violin. Due to the unusual circumstance of these having stayed together they are sold as a package only.
Mr. Hyde's violin has a beautiful, dark lower register and warm middle range, becoming bright in the higher range. The accompanying bow is a nicely balanced stick with good camber and Hyde stamped in the frog. The violin and bow are priced together at $5499.
